The Inbetween

A spent the afternoon with me at Casa Milagro. Many smiles were made.

She acted surprised to see me (still) nursing and asked if it hurt. I told her that it didn't. I forget that what I find to be completely natural others may find to be odd.

We sat quietly in the sun and watched A color the sidewalks in chalk.

K exercised our revitalized resolution: follow through.

Today

The laundry is piled to the ceiling.

The cat is still sick.

A spent the day with K, chasing "choo choo" all over the railyard and playing on the swings. I spent the day at school, then a few hours at Casa Milagro. I will continue to be humbled and inspired by those labeled "mentally ill."

The "to do" list is longer than the calendar month, but needs to fit into seven short days. I'm a bit overwhelmed.

Only one more week of classes. Dinner conversation consisted of us wondering how we're really going to keep up this kind of schedule over the next few years.

A and K never cease to amaze and inspire me. They are a magical duo. I cannot imagine this life without them.

It's a poor excuse to some, but completely legit to me: life is too full (for me) to regularly update this blog. So many people do it, even folks with busier lives. Of course, I find the time to read other people's blogs...but, I digress. Life is good and full and I wouldn't have it any other way. So allow me to offer a quick update of what we've been up to since November...really, November? Yea, I think it's been that long.

December was spent readying for the holidays and a trip to Pittsburgh to spend Christmas with family. We had an awesome time...lots of fun, food, laughs and love. The new year rolled in like a tidal wave and we've been riding it ever since! Keenan and I *both* started school (well, he's been in school....I just started). We moved back into town...thank god! Oh, and did I mention we're running a business? It's been a balancing act, for sure, but somehow we do and we do it all together.

There's a bit of travel built into our work this year, which is turning out to be fun for all of us. A few days in L.A. for the Natural Foods Expo offered some much needed beach time. A trip to southern New Mexico really opened our eyes up to the expansiveness and intensity of New Mexico's landscape. Next weekend we'll be in Colorado...yay! We're really looking forward to that one...it's been a while since we've made it that far north and I'm jonsing for a Colorado fix!

Our dear friends Jeffree, Dione and Ruby came to stay with us for a few weeks and their recent departure was bittersweet. As always, we had a great time while they were here. Day trips to Taos, Tent Rocks, Santa Fe National Forest; the Farmer's Market; long talks over breakfast/lunch/dinner; sweet babes making us laugh (sometimes making us crazy!). All in all, a great visit and a reminder of the importance of surrounding ourselves with a supportive and loving community.

We're looking forward to more visitors in the coming months...a few trips of our own...some friends returning to Santa Fe...and a beautiful, adventure filled New Mexican summer. We're in the process of deciding on summer school, but I really think camping/adventuring is going to win over that one!

Here's quick photo recap. Enjoy!

A wintry mix.

Disclaimer: This post has been sitting idle for about 4months. Please excuse how ridiculously dated these photos are....we've been a bit busy, and I'm super lame about updating this blog (unfortunately).

To Stand in front of Pittsburgh's Phipps conservatory in the winter, you would never assume it to contain an entire tropical forest-- complete with cacao trees, guava and banana trees, and almost every other tropical fruit you can imagine. This was how our holiday was spent, an unassuming visit that opened up to a glorious time.

Atty and her Pa playing in the warm conservatory, shortly before Atty plucks a flower for herself. A possible misdemeanor?

Mini villages in the midst of a micro transit system. Nicole and I look at each other, what if???

Atty, Gram and Pup pup. This time around she opened up a little more.

The Suttner family, freezing in the chilled Pittsburgh morning, but basking in the warmth of a shared holiday with the ones you love.

Back in the Santa Fe mountains, Atty says "enough of this cold, give me some coffee!"
